Flirting and Romance
A guide to Flirting and Romancing your partner

Flirting is the first step towards intimacy.  It cannot be left to chance.  Whether it is by accident, a natural skill, or a conscious strategy, it is a necessary initial activity that both men and women engage in.  It consists of body language, conversation and brief initial physical contact.  It can be a mutual dance of two people or a singular approach by one towards another.  Here are some tips, strategies and approaches to flirting.  Try them next time you have the opportunity and GOOD LUCK!

Breaking the Ice…

Ever eye someone while standing in a long line only to watch your potential love walk away?  Seizing this moment is the ultimate singles challenge but can be the most exciting.  When you are in a situation like waiting in line or waiting to order a drink, or anywhere where you are in close proximity to someone you want to meet, here are some tips to begin the flirting process.

Smile and go for eye contact.  Then make a comment about the shared situation.  Keep it positive like “certainly seems to be a popular spot tonight”.  A smile says you are friendly and positive, and it inspires a response. Once you have broken the ice with a smile and eye contact you have the “in” to begin.

Wanna mint? Another idea is to light his/her cigarette, offer a mint (gum), offer to carry a drink or anything that involves mutual participation. People are disarmed and charmed by generosity. It is also a great start when there is something you are both involved in even for a few seconds.

Show interest in what the person is buying, ordering or doing at the time.  (“I was thinking of ordering that too. Is that good?”) Asking opinions is flattering and really opens up the other person.

Be aware of over doing compliments or being too close too soon.  Getting too complimentary or too close too soon is just creepy.  You’ll be close soon enough if you take your time and let the flirt progress naturally.

Make the move to connect.  If you feel some mutual attraction and your person of interest is lingering just a bit, take the plunge and ask to have coffee, lunch, exchange email addresses or cell numbers
